Columbia Energy & Environmental Services is a reputable engineering services company based in Richland, WA. We provide comprehensive engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation, and controls, testing, and technology development services. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fabrication Engineer to contribute to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative design solutions for projects related to nuclear and hazardous waste remediation, chemical processing, and nuclear ventilation and HVAC systems.
  • Maintain precise document configuration control and apply ASME standards for GD&T.
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams in welding, machining, material fit-up, waterjet cutting, laser cutting, and metal forming.
  • Work with various metals (Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Aluminum) and manage challenges such as material segregation and temperature effects during welding and finishing processes.
  • Perform mechanical, physical, and visual inspections, ensuring compliance with specifications and approved documentation.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, blueprints, charts, and specifications.
  • Conduct design analyses according to industry codes (ASME B31.3, ASME B&PV, ASME AG-1, etc.).
  • Work safely across office and shop environments with a strong focus on safety protocols.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with project teams.
  • Collaborate with designers to create detailed design drawings.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures.
  • Maintain baseline design configurations and documentation control.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and task status effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with design requirements throughout project phases.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience, particularly in shop fabrication environments.
  • Familiarity with NQA-1 and/or ISO 9001 programs.
  • Proven ability to produce design deliverables, resolve technical review comments, and finalize documentation.
  • Detail-oriented team player with excellent collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to meet project timelines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience working with the DOE.
  • Prior experience in a nuclear facility or Navy Nuclear program.
  • Willingness to embrace new challenges and learn new skills to support project teams.
Working Conditions

This role involves work in both office and fabrication shop environments, providing technical guidance to shop personnel.
