Position Overview:
Arcadis is in search of a Site Engineering Manager to join our team, focusing on a diverse range of professional engineering tasks in either field or office environments. The Site Engineering Manager will oversee the administration of construction contracts and evaluate the performance of contractor teams in alignment with established construction guidelines and specifications.
The Site Engineering Manager will monitor project progress to ensure adherence to contract stipulations. This includes ongoing assessment of materials and methodologies utilized, along with inspection of completed work prior to acceptance. The Manager will ensure that accurate measurements and payments are processed as required, and that all project documentation complies with organizational policies and procedures. Furthermore, the Manager will proactively analyze contract documents to foresee, identify, and prepare any necessary change orders to address conflicts or suggest enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guarantee the safety of all personnel involved in construction management, state employees, contractors, and the general public by observing contractor operations and traffic conditions, providing recommendations, and implementing corrective measures when necessary.
- Evaluate contractor operations for adherence to safety regulations.
- Guide staff to ensure that comprehensive, precise, and timely contract records related to construction progress, expenditures, budget management, and work order balances are maintained in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Engage with contractors to discuss compliance with project plans and the quality of work performed.
- Conduct field inspections of contractor work to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and agreements.
- Compile reports and review daily inspection reports from field inspectors to document contractor activities.
- Maintain thorough and accurate project records, ensuring compliance with departmental policies.
- Oversee project timelines and financial budgets.
- Draft contract change orders for modifications, additions, or deletions to plans and specifications to ensure successful project completion.
- Assist in resolving contractor disputes promptly as outlined in the contract.
- Ensure adherence to all contract documents.
- Approximately ten (10) years of experience in managing heavy civil engineering construction projects.
- Approximately three (3) years of supervisory experience overseeing major construction contracts of similar scope.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Experience as a Site Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on state highway projects valued at $30 million or more.
- Prior experience with construction operations on state highways.
- Valid California Class C driver's license.
- Experience with Caltrans.
