The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a highly skilled WMD Threat Analyst with a robust background in identifying, characterizing, and evaluating global threats related to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) issues. This role is integral to producing critical Defense Intelligence Enterprise outputs, which encompass foundational assessments, warning reports, technical briefings, and various analytical documents.

The selected candidate will deliver timely and precise evaluations of adversarial WMD initiatives, strategic threats, and advancements in weapons-related science and technology. Collaboration with the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, national laboratories, and academic institutions will be essential to tackle pressing WMD-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and mentor junior analysts while reviewing their work to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Contribute significantly to multi-disciplinary analytical teams, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant WMD technologies and trends.
  • Effectively communicate official government analytical positions during client interactions, representing the Defense Intelligence Enterprise as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with substantial experience in intelligence analysis.
  • Over 5 years of experience utilizing multi-INT databases for developing analytical assessments and presentations.
  • Familiarity with established Intelligence Community guidelines and standards.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capability to articulate complex analyses to diverse military and senior government audiences.
  • Strong writing skills for conveying technical analysis and program evaluations.
  • In-depth knowledge of state-level nuclear, biological, and chemical programs, along with WMD proliferation and procurement issues.
  • Understanding of the technical requirements necessary for weaponizing NBC materials.
  • Awareness of global technology control, arms control, nonproliferation, and threat reduction strategies.
  • Experience in assessing consequence management factors related to NBC weapon usage and CBRN contaminated scenarios.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or specialized training relevant to WMD issues.
  • Military or defense experience with knowledge of strategies and policies for CBRN threat defense and WMD nonproliferation.
  • Experience in integrating intelligence for CWMD exercise planning and execution.
  • Understanding of the Defense Intelligence Enterprise and its production centers.
  • Participation in interagency CWMD, nuclear security, or counterproliferation forums.
  • Ability to develop and communicate innovative methodologies for complex analytical challenges.
  • Familiarity with counterproliferation-related analytical centers within the DOD and Intelligence Community.
