Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a well-established multi-service not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Bronx community. Our mission is to provide essential resources for residents at every stage of life, enhancing education and overall well-being. KHCC serves a diverse population, including families with special needs, low-income households, recent immigrants, survivors of abuse, and at-risk youth.

As a College and Career Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding high school students through the complexities of postsecondary planning. This role involves personalized advising, engaging families, conducting workshops, organizing college and career trips, and facilitating career panels. Each counselor will manage a caseload of students, with a particular emphasis on juniors and seniors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all facets of college and career programming at KHCC's Student Success Centers, including outreach, recruitment, registration, and daily operations.
  • Provide tailored college and career counseling to a significant number of students, focusing on financial aid, college selection, application processes, and enrollment.
  • Assist students interested in vocational training and alternative post-secondary pathways.
  • Design and execute workshops and events that cater to various grade levels and post-secondary planning stages.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with local schools supported by the Student Success Center.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations, colleges, and counseling networks to enhance educational opportunities for KHCC participants.
  • Engage with youth through daily activities, ensuring appropriate behavior management and supervision.
  • Stay updated on developments in college access, including financial aid options and programs for low-income students.
  • Supervise high school and college-aged peer counselors and bridge coaches.
  • Assist in planning and executing college-related trips and events based on campus needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive data tracking systems for KHCC and relevant educational authorities, preparing reports as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform various physical tasks. Candidates should be capable of lifting and moving objects of varying weights and possess good vision for detailed work.
