Designation: Full-Time Staff Member (Contracted)

Job Description:

The Ubuntu School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mentor Teacher to join our team. As a Mentor Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of our local teachers, while also contributing to the implementation of our progressive educational model.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with school administration to provide targeted instruction at the classroom level.
  2. Support local teachers in developing their classroom practices to meet student needs and curricular demands.
  3. Coach and mentor local teachers through modeling and acting as the lead teacher in the classroom.
  4. Work alongside classroom teachers to internalize curriculum, analyze data, and create instructional next steps.
  5. Teach/model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis, teaching lessons side-by-side with teachers.
  6. Observe teachers' lessons and provide feedback for professional growth and students' success.

Requirements:

  • At least five years of successful teaching experience in elementary education.
  • Demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum development, student learning, test analysis, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Experience with either Bridges Math Curriculum and/or Wilson Language, Fundations, Teacher's College, Running Records, Envisions or Dibbels.
  • Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate professional growth in adults.
  • Master's degree preferred, but not required; professional license required.
  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of Ubuntu Pathways and the Ubuntu School.
