POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Performance Engineering will report directly to the VP of Performance Optimization. This role involves leading and overseeing the Performance Engineering team to provide top-tier performance modeling and sophisticated data analysis for utility-scale PV and BESS systems. The individual will be responsible for establishing processes, tools, and training to enable the team to deliver exceptional services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure uniformity among Performance Engineers in service delivery and client experience.
  • Oversee all Performance Engineering personnel.
  • Formulate staffing strategies to effectively deliver services.
  • Guarantee timely and precise reporting in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage contractual Performance Guarantees (Performance, Availability, DC Health).
  • Analyze plant performance against established models.
  • Provide actionable plans and recommendations to enhance the performance of PV and BESS power facilities.
  • Deliver an exceptional Customer Experience through expert analysis and communication.
  • Continuously refine content and methodologies to align with customer needs and boost efficiency.
  • Support sales efforts through negotiations of performance guarantees and service agreement scopes.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new contracts to ensure service delivery at project commencement.
  • Anticipate travel requirements to be approximately 10%.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics; a Master's or PhD is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in performance engineering within the energy sector.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a technical or engineering team.
  • Experience managing personnel in a matrix organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of PV technology, solar energy, power generation, and data acquisition.
  • Proficient in PVsyst, Plant Predict, or similar PV performance tools.
  • Skilled in the MS Office suite.
  • Familiarity with query languages such as SQL, MATLAB, and Python programming (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to ensure analytics projects meet business user requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability to convert data into critical insights for informed business decisions.
