Description

The Reservoir Engineer will be tasked with delivering reservoir engineering insights to bolster Fervo Energy's geothermal exploration and development initiatives. This role is pivotal in influencing the development strategy, assessing investment prospects, and enhancing reservoir efficiency across Fervo's expanding project portfolio. Key responsibilities encompass utilizing advanced reservoir simulation and geomechanics software for tasks such as history matching, production forecasting, well completion, stimulation treatment design optimization, and reservoir management enhancement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct history matching of geothermal reservoir simulation models utilizing comprehensive field production data.
  • Evaluate field-acquired stimulation data to guide future well design decisions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, and drilling & completions engineers to integrate diverse subsurface data and formulate geothermal reservoir conceptual models.
  • Assist the Asset Team in the planning, design, and execution of reservoir diagnostic initiatives.
  • Design and implement data acquisition and well testing protocols for Fervo field projects; establish well testing methodologies and analyze field data.
  • Examine production and injection metrics, including pressure transient data, rate-transient data, and diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) results.
  • Perform optimization studies and conduct economic sensitivity analyses.
  • Develop uncertainty quantification and execute production decline curve analyses for reserves forecasting of Fervo projects.
  • Collaborate with the project development team on financial modeling; aid in asset management and investment analysis; provide simulation and reservoir engineering support for R&D initiatives.
  • Create geomechanical models and assess the subsurface state of stress.
  • Prepare detailed technical evaluations with actionable recommendations.
  • Engage with the resource team to identify and assess opportunities for deploying innovative technologies to enhance reservoir performance.
  • Utilize reservoir simulation to generate production forecasts for evaluating various reservoir management strategies and development plans.
  • Participate in industry conferences and meetings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas or geothermal sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proficient in commercial reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse, CMG, Tough2, or TETRAD.
  • Experience with commercial or research hydraulic fracture simulation software, including GOHFER, Kinetix, ResFrac, StimPlan, or FrackOptima.
  • Familiarity with Python programming.
  • Preferred: Experience in developing code for advanced reservoir simulation and reservoir geomechanics software.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of SAGD, water floods, hydraulic fracturing, and well stimulation techniques in unconventional oil and gas.
  • Preferred: Experience in geothermal reservoir engineering within conventional hydrothermal systems.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in geomodeling software (EarthVision, GOCAD, LeapFrog, or similar).
  • Preferred: Background in data analytics.
