Position Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Parts Counter Associate involve optimizing the distribution of parts to the production area, providing assistance to customers, and enhancing operational efficiency while minimizing indirect labor costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety and security protocols; conduct weekly safety inspections and report any hazardous conditions.
- Implement established processes; continually enhance the flow of parts to the production area.
- Support technicians, walk-in customers, and those reaching out via phone.
- Identify parts and select suppliers; employ competitive pricing strategies to maximize profits while ensuring high customer satisfaction.
- Advise technicians and customers on suitable parts; pick, package, and prepare parts for shipment.
- Accurately allocate parts to work orders.
- Generate shipping labels and ensure all orders and requests are fulfilled accurately and promptly.
- Inspect and manage incoming and outgoing shipments; unpack deliveries and distribute items to designated warehouse locations.
- Assist with physical inventory assessments.
- Handle warranty parts processing.
- Cross-train for various parts roles and provide coverage as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shipping and receiving area.
- Operate company vehicles as required for parts collection and delivery.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
An individual must be capable of performing or acquiring the necessary skills for these essential duties. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Team-oriented with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency; experience with MS Office and email is necessary.
- Effective business communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to learn and proficiently use parts management software.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Capacity to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Mechanical aptitude with some knowledge of parts and technical applications.
- Certification for forklift operation is required.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential.
- Consistent and regular attendance is a fundamental requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must be able to remain on their feet for extended periods; regularly stand, walk, and use hands for handling and manipulating objects; reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively. Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. Moderate physical activity is expected, with the ability to lift and move weights ranging from 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally, and 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, with the capacity to handle over 20 lbs. consistently without restrictions. Employees lifting and moving objects exceeding 100 lbs. must seek assistance. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and confined spaces. They may encounter wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to high, precarious locations; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme temperatures; electrical hazards; and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
