Position Summary

The Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for conducting routine and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles, production machinery, and specialized equipment. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, procuring necessary parts, and maintaining accurate service records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair fleet vehicle chassis along with specialized vehicle systems, including tanks, pumps, and spray mechanisms.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on tractors, forklifts, small engines, and various specialized equipment such as aerators, seeders, and spreaders.
  • Ensure all repairs are documented accurately within an electronic maintenance management system.
  • Maintain an organized parts inventory and a clean work environment.
  • Coordinate and document outsourced maintenance tasks performed by external vendors and local service providers.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Prepare and oversee the maintenance budget.
  • Respond to breakdowns of vehicles and equipment in the field as required.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, along with 1-4 years of experience as an automotive mechanic or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc.).
  • Capability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational instructions, and maintenance manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills for calculating figures such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Ability to understand various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, ensuring punctual attendance.
