Job Summary

Sherman Associates is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Respond to work orders and resolve resident requests in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and turn vacated apartment units to ensure they are ready for new residents.
  • Assist in scheduling and completing preventive maintenance for buildings and equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties.
  • Conduct regular property walks to ensure resident property rules are being followed and the property is clean and orderly.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Work on-call rotations as required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Assist in maintaining sufficient maintenance supply stock.
  • Assist in contracting outside vendors and taking bids for special projects or extensive maintenance.
  • Maintain exterior grounds and interior common areas in a quality, presentable condition.
  • Maintain excellent customer service and relations with residents, vendors, and other external or internal organizations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience preferred.
  • 1-4 years of experience in maintenance or related carpentry/construction, ideally in residential or commercial real estate.
  • Current and valid driver's license required; must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR) and have a safe driving record.
  • Must participate in on-call rotation.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with community tenants, vendors, and across corporate divisions.
