Mission-Driven Department Chair Role at MPTCS

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Chair to lead our instructional teams and drive student success. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a critical role in shaping the academic experience of our scholars.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven track record of fostering high student achievement and success. You will be responsible for leading department meetings, coordinating curriculum development, and providing instructional support to teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Leadership: Inspire and model teaching excellence by teaching two classes and co-teaching periods as assigned;
  • Curriculum Development: Assist in the review of lesson plans and development of curriculum goals and philosophies;
  • Assessment and Data-Driven Management: Select, use, and interpret evaluation data to inform instruction and drive scholar achievement;
  • Department Management: Coordinate department duties, manage recruitment and hiring processes, and cultivate a positive staff culture within the department;
  • Communication and Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between teachers, administrators, and other school groups, and facilitate articulation among departments.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Masters Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience in teaching and educational leadership;
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of fostering high student achievement and success, with strong alignment with MPTCS's core values and mission;
  • Curriculum Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience in supervising and mentoring teachers, with up-to-date knowledge of effective curricular strategies and interventions;
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders.

Benefits:

  • Salary: Starting at $105,000 per year;
  • Term of Employment: 12 months;
  • Union Status: Unaffiliated;
