Job Overview

Mission-driven Marion P. Thomas Charter School is seeking a highly skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team.

About the Role

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in maximizing the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is BA $63,414 - $89,264 / MA $64,664 - $90,514, depending on qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, and Life Insurance policies, as well as parental/family leave and pension eligibility.

Responsibilities
  • Employ multisensory teaching strategies and specialized instruction as needed based on student's specific disabilities
  • Assist students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEPs and behavior management plans
  • Serve as a ready resource to students and parents to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management; serve as liaison between home and school
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Possession of a current and valid Special Education certification issued by the New Jersey Department of Education
