Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Account Representative to join our team at the Chattanooga Heart Institute. As a key member of our Business Office, you will be responsible for reviewing self-pay account receivables, ensuring timely collections from patients, and resolving issues with patient accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field patient and insurance calls/visits to resolve issues and collect balance from patients.
  • Maintain daily collection goals by collecting payments from patients and setting up payment arrangements.
  • Audit patient accounts for accuracy and request adjustments, write-offs, payments, transfers, and refunds/recoups as needed.
  • Work A/R aging reports, review claims, status, patient eligibility, and modify accounts as needed to ensure proper and timely payment.
  • Review patient charges for delinquency and make decisions regarding collection processes.
  • Review bankruptcy notifications and discharges for adjustments to accounts and file claims to bankruptcy court.
  • Review deceased patient logs and reports weekly, follow up on accounts, and determine estate status.
  • Send termination letters and review for completion of termination and send appropriate documentation to Medical Records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • Two or more years of insurance follow-up/patient accounts experience with customer service background.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
Pay Range

$20.33/hour
