About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician I to join our team at Texas A&M Health. As a critical member of our veterinary medical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the well-being of our animal patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Monitor the medical condition of critical patients, instruct and place peripheral, central, and arterial catheters, and provide nursing care to critical patients.
  • General Technical Duties: Record medications administered, fluid types and volumes administered, and other vital information in the medical record system. Perform laboratory tests, provide life-sustaining emergency care, and assist clinicians and students with laboratory sample collection.
  • General Duties: Maintain inventory, perform service and maintenance of equipment, and be available for on-call status.
  • Teaching: Instruct, guide, and supervise students in proper clinical techniques to support patient care.
  • Training and Certification: Remain current with various training courses, maintain certification or licensure, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills and general understanding of equipment used in a veterinary medical teaching hospital.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Equine and Food Animal experience.
  • Degree in veterinary technology.
  • One year of technical experience in a large animal veterinary hospital, referral clinic, or specialty hospital environment.
  • Specialty training in large animal medicine and/or emergency care.
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician in Texas, or ability to obtain.
