TPWD Laboratory Technician I

This position is part of the TPWD Wildlife Division and will be stationed at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in College Station. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Wildlife Health Specialist and the Assistant Section Head of Serology, performing entry-level to routine laboratory work and responsible for processing tissues harvested from cervid species for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) diagnostic testing.
Responsibilities- Perform laboratory work and process tissues for CWD diagnostic testing
- Work under moderate supervision with minimal latitude for initiative and independent judgment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Comply with all rules, regulations, and procedures of TPWD and TVMDL
- Graduation from High School or GED
- No experience required
- Valid State driver's license if driving is required
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science
- Experience preparing diagnostic samples using sharp instruments
- Experience as a TPWD Wildlife Division seasonal
- 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Overtime as necessary
- Pre-exposure rabies vaccination series, costs covered by TPWD Wildlife Division
- Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles
