Job Summary

This position is part of the TPWD Wildlife Division and will be stationed at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in College Station. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Wildlife Health Specialist and the Assistant Section Head of Serology, performing entry-level to routine laboratory work and responsible for processing tissues harvested from cervid species for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory work and process tissues for CWD diagnostic testing
  • Work under moderate supervision with minimal latitude for initiative and independent judgment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Comply with all rules, regulations, and procedures of TPWD and TVMDL
Requirements
  • Graduation from High School or GED
  • No experience required
  • Valid State driver's license if driving is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science
  • Experience preparing diagnostic samples using sharp instruments
  • Experience as a TPWD Wildlife Division seasonal
Working Conditions
  • 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Overtime as necessary
  • Pre-exposure rabies vaccination series, costs covered by TPWD Wildlife Division
  • Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles
