Litigation Support Clerk

Overview: The Case Clerk plays a vital role in supporting various litigation activities under the guidance of Associates and Paralegals. This position is integral to the operations of Covington & Burling LLP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the review and production of documents, including indexing, bates-labeling, and quality assurance.
  • Manage case files effectively, ensuring that pleadings, correspondence, deposition transcripts, and exhibits are organized and readily accessible to attorneys.
  • Regularly update and maintain file indexes for efficient retrieval.
  • Obtain necessary documents from courts and relevant agencies.
  • Support the preparation of legal documents, including exhibits and filings.
  • Compile and maintain document binders, witness preparation materials, and topical resources.
  • Conduct database searches using tools such as Ringtail and Concordance to locate requested documents.
  • Summarize depositions and analyze deposition transcripts as needed.
  • Engage in research using platforms like Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Assist with cite-checking tasks to ensure accuracy.
  • Contribute to the preparation of materials for trial.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Firm management.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to a two-year tenure.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience in a law firm or possession of a paralegal certificate is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently with efficiency.
  • Demonstrated service orientation and ability to foster effective working relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Availability for overtime work.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Paralegal Supervisor

Compensation: $60,000

Employment Status: Non-Exempt
