Division 12 Project Development Manager

This is a managerial and advanced professional work in directing an engineering-oriented, large and multi-functional department. The position will serve as the Division 12 Project Development Engineer located in the Shelby Division 12 Office.
Key Responsibilities- Direct the work of other engineers, apply engineering principles to difficult or complex engineering problems, and make sound recommendations and decisions.
- Manage and direct annual budget for the reporting units.
- Position may determine the scope of projects and assign projects based on available manpower, schedules, and type of work; monitor and review projects to ensure they are on schedule; research and evaluate new methods, techniques, and materials; and develop and set department policy and standards for quality and quantity of work.
- Responsibilities include management and supervision of Division-wide units including Project Management, Design Engineering, Division Contracts, Planning Engineer, Division Environmental, and Bridge Program.
- Position will perform advanced engineering calculations, provide engineering technical assistance, and assist in the development and implementation of various Division programs.
- Employee responds to inquiries from the public, DOT management, news media, etc., regarding DOT policies and procedures, division projects, plans, and proposed work.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of seven years progressive engineering experience including four years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors preferred.
