The Sanitation Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily sanitation activities, financial management, and team leadership across multiple facilities. This position entails a variety of responsibilities before, during, and after sanitation shifts. The Area Manager ensures that Site Managers and sanitation crews are adequately prepared, promotes a safe and efficient working environment, and collaborates with inspectors during compliance audits.

This role requires direct oversight of facility budgets, necessitating regular monitoring to avoid excess expenditures. The Area Manager will also track the site's Food Safety and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure adherence to company standards. Strong leadership skills are essential for guiding multiple managers and a large team of hourly associates and supervisors towards common objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with maintenance teams before shifts to prepare the work area for sanitation. Provide training on lockout procedures, chemical safety, and fundamental sanitation practices to new supervisors and employees.
  • Support a designated region of food processing facilities, including travel and overnight stays as necessary.
  • Participate in monthly customer meetings to maintain strong relationships and high satisfaction levels.
  • Assist in organizing meetings with potential clients, conducting plant tours, and participating in new business proposals.
  • Ensure that all sanitation team members and supervisors are properly staffed, trained, and equipped with the necessary tools and personal protective equipment to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Communicate and enforce all required safety protocols to the assigned team.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment cleaned and sanitized by the crew during site visits, before, during, and after sanitation processes.
  • Review and approve the reporting and departure times of the entire sanitation crew.
  • Accompany quality assurance and USDA inspectors during pre-operational inspections when present on-site.
  • Maintain open communication with the customer's management team regarding sanitation operations.
  • Adjust floor staffing to ensure timely sanitation processes and accommodate short crews as needed.
  • Complete necessary reports and maintain effective communication with customer personnel.
  • Monitor employee attendance and weekly timecards.
  • Keep records of sanitation processes, deficiencies, and employee training.
  • Implement the company's progressive discipline policy when required.
  • Administer Lock Out Tag Out procedures to secure facility equipment during sanitation operations.
  • Occasionally operate specialized equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts after receiving appropriate training.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of sanitary restoration processes and industrial safety practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out and HAZCOMM. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is essential.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bi-lingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.
