Position Summary

The Lead Scientist, Bioanalytical Research provides strategic and scientific leadership within the bioanalytical and biomarker development division (BBD/PCDS) and acts as the departmental representative through the following responsibilities, relevant to Wave's programs: (1) Representing the functional area at project team meetings and other development discussions (2) Identifying and addressing technical project challenges (3) Presenting issues and proposed solutions for the functional area (4) Overseeing technical activities that encompass various aspects of a project or multiple projects, both within Wave Life Sciences and with external contract research organizations (CROs).

Qualifications
  • PhD in nucleic acid chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline with a minimum of 12-15 years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector, or a BS/MS degree with at least 15 years of relevant industry experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with ligand binding assays (ELISA/MSD/Single Molecule Array/Counting tools) and the capability to independently develop, implement, troubleshoot, and execute bioanalytical assays
  • Familiarity with LC/MS instrumentation is preferred
  • Prior experience in managing and/or collaborating with bioanalytical CROs is essential
  • Experience in a start-up or small biotech environment is advantageous
Key Responsibilities
  • Actively engage in planning, experimental design, and execution of all bioanalytical aspects, including efficient assay development and innovative problem-solving
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and lead bioanalytical and biomarker responsibilities at the program team level
  • Ability to manage diverse projects to support internal initiatives
  • Analyze and interpret data from pharmacology studies
  • Develop biochemical and bioanalytical assays utilizing a variety of tools and techniques such as ELISA and qPCR
  • Oversee external contract research organization (CRO) relationships to facilitate the implementation of bioanalytical assays and actively participate in relevant meetings
  • Demonstrate high productivity in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative work environment
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in developing a wide range of bioanalytical methodologies for the characterization of oligonucleotides
  • Understanding of GLP requirements and ICH guidelines is desirable
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, highly collaborative, and possess excellent communication skills
