Job Overview

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves transporting individuals, including seniors and those with developmental disabilities, using a suitably sized vehicle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure all passengers are securely fastened.

2. Properly operate wheelchair lifts for safe loading and unloading.

3. Store all wheelchair equipment appropriately before vehicle movement.

4. Drive in various weather conditions and terrains for trips and related travel as needed.

5. Maintain positive relationships with passengers, care centers, providers, and staff.

6. Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings.

7. Safely transport passengers between designated pick-up and drop-off points.

8. Utilize two-way radios for communication.

9. Uphold a safe environment within the vehicle by enforcing conduct rules and managing emergencies.

10. Keep the vehicle clean to ensure safe operational conditions.

11. Gather accident details in case of minor incidents.

12. Complete and submit daily vehicle condition reports.

13. Read and interpret maps effectively.

14. Perform basic arithmetic calculations.

15. Complete necessary reports as required.

16. Travel for business purposes as needed.

17. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

18. Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

19. Carry out additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To successfully perform this role, an individual must meet the essential duties satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE:

A valid Commercial A or B license with passenger endorsement (P) is required.

Preferred experience of six months.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 21 years old.

Ability to obtain and maintain relevant certifications within 30 days of hire.

Possess and maintain a valid commercial A or B license with passenger endorsement (P).

Maintain a satisfactory driving record, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance as mandated by state law.

Pass a background check, including a medical examination and Department of Justice fingerprint clearance. May require TB clearance and child abuse index check.

CPR and First Aid training must be completed within six months of hire.

COVID-19 vaccination is required within 60 days of hire, unless exempt for religious or medical reasons.

Pass drug and alcohol testing prior to employment and remain subject to ongoing testing throughout employment.
