Compensation: $25.50 per hour

Department Insights
The role requires flexibility for both morning and evening shifts, primarily on weekends, with a rotation of morning and night shifts during the week. The cook will operate independently with assistance from one aide. There will be rotating holidays and additional compensation for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy boxes when managing stock.

Key Responsibilities
This position involves a variety of tasks related to food production that supports the care of patients and residents. Responsibilities include executing meal services based on specific dietary needs.

Prepare, cook, season, and portion meals for patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring adherence to menu guidelines and dietary restrictions.

Maintain high standards of food quality regarding appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Perform cleaning duties to ensure hygiene in cooking and serving areas. Responsible for the proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. Provide the highest quality and safest food possible to all stakeholders. This role requires effective communication and teamwork skills.

Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment.

Follow standardized recipes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food preparation, storage, and usage.

Document HACCP procedures, temperatures, and outcomes to ensure food safety while adhering to daily and weekly menu production sheets.

Operate various kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, kettles, ovens, grills, and dishwashers.

The ability to work independently is essential, along with a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation processes. Basic math skills are necessary for accurate measurements, and proficiency in reading and understanding recipes is required.

Demonstrate the ability to remain on feet for extended periods and navigate distances throughout the facility. Perform a variety of duties in food production that supports patient and resident care.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.

Depending on the location, at least one year of prior cooking experience is required, with a preference for experience in therapeutic diets.

Strong line cooking skills are necessary to ensure timely preparation of food in coordination with patient tray assembly.

Depending on the hiring location, Serv Safe certification may be required within a specified timeframe. Must meet annual continuing education requirements, including departmental meetings, safety training, therapeutic diet training, and mandatory in-services.
