Role Summary
The selected candidate will undertake various responsibilities in food production that enhance patient and resident care. This includes executing meal services tailored to specific dietary needs.

Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, seasoning, and portioning meals for patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines.

The role demands strict compliance with food quality standards regarding appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Duties also encompass cleaning and sanitizing cooking and serving areas, maintaining proper labeling and storage of food and equipment, and ensuring the highest quality and safety of food served to all stakeholders. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential as the role involves collaboration with multiple internal customers.

Demonstrates the ability to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment.

Follows standardized recipes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols for food preparation, storage, and usage.

Documents HACCP procedures, temperatures, and outcomes to guarantee food safety while adhering to daily and weekly menu production sheets.

Operates various kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, ovens, and dishwashers.

The ability to work independently when necessary is crucial, along with a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Basic math skills for accurate measurements and recipe comprehension are also required.

Physical stamina is necessary as the role involves being on one’s feet for extended periods and walking significant distances within the facility.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Candidates should possess the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.

Prior cooking experience of at least one year is required, with a preference for those experienced in therapeutic diets.

Strong line cooking skills are essential to ensure timely preparation of meals in coordination with patient tray assembly.

Depending on the location, obtaining Serv Safe certification within a specified timeframe may be necessary. Candidates must also meet annual continuing education requirements, including departmental meetings and safety training.
