Department Insights
This role requires flexibility for both morning and evening shifts, primarily on weekends, with a rotation of mornings and nights during the week. The cook will work independently with the assistance of one aide. There is a rotating holiday schedule with evening/night and weekend differentials.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain high standards of food quality regarding appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Conduct cleaning duties to ensure hygiene in cooking and serving areas. Manage the labeling and storage of food, equipment, and supplies. Provide the highest quality and safest food possible to all individuals within the facility. This role requires effective communication and teamwork skills.

Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment.

Follow standardized recipes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food preparation, storage, and usage.

Document HACCP procedures, temperatures, and outcomes to ensure food safety while adhering to daily and weekly menu production sheets.

Operate various kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, ovens, grills, and dishwashers.

Ability to work independently when required. Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is essential. Basic math skills are necessary for accurate measurements and recipe comprehension.

Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and walk long distances within the facility. Perform various duties in food production that support patient and resident care. Execute meal services according to prescribed diets.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Depending on the location, Serv Safe certification may be required within a designated timeframe. Must meet annual continuing education requirements, including departmental meetings, safety training, therapeutic diet training, and mandatory in-services.
