Department Insights
We seek a flexible individual available for both morning and evening shifts, primarily on weekends, with a rotation of mornings and nights during the week. Role Summary
This position entails a variety of responsibilities in food production that supports the care of patients and residents. The cook will execute meal services in accordance with prescribed dietary needs.

Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, seasoning, and portioning meals for patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring adherence to menu guidelines and dietary specifications.

The cook must maintain high standards of food quality regarding appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Duties also include cleaning and sanitizing cooking and serving areas, as well as proper labeling and storage of food and equipment. The goal is to provide the highest quality and safest food to patients, co-workers, and guests, necessitating strong communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment is essential.

Follows standardized recipes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food preparation, storage, and usage.

Documentation of HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes is required to ensure food safety while adhering to daily and weekly menu production sheets.

Operates various kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, kettles, ovens, and dishwashers.

The candidate should be capable of working independently when necessary and possess a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and proficiency in reading recipes are essential.

Demonstrates the ability to remain on feet for extended periods and walk significant distances throughout the facility. The role involves a variety of food production tasks that support patient and resident care, ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines.

Maintains high standards of food quality, sanitation, and safety.



Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions is necessary.

At least one year of prior cooking experience is required, with a preference for experience in therapeutic diets.

Strong line cooking skills are essential to ensure timely food preparation and coordination with patient tray assembly.

Depending on the location, Serv Safe certification may be required within a specified timeframe. Must meet annual continuing education requirements, including departmental meetings and safety training.
