We are currently on the lookout for a Tax Transformation Senior Business Analyst to become part of our Tax Transformation team within the internal IT department. In this capacity, you will work collaboratively with diverse teams, including Tax Professionals, IT, and Operations to:
  • Identify and address process inefficiencies
  • Drive standardization where applicable
  • Utilize technology platforms and automation to enhance efficiency
  • Manage data to deliver business intelligence to internal teams and external clients

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The perfect candidate should possess a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a tax-related role within a medium to large tax/accounting environment, including at least 2 years in a business analysis or tax technology capacity.
This position requires a unique blend of technical acumen, creativity, and design thinking. Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience in understanding and documenting process workflows, user stories, and business requirements, along with proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Visio, and tax software applications.

Key Requirements:
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in a tax role within a medium or large tax/accounting setting, with a minimum of 2 years in a genuine IT business analysis or tax technology role
  • Experience in documenting process workflows, use cases, and user stories
  • Advanced knowledge of tax applications and workflows
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret business needs and translate them into application and functional requirements
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Visio, and Adobe
  • Advanced data extraction and transformation skills using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Innovative and transformative mindset
  • Prior experience with tax software applications and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active CPA designation or willingness to reactivate certification
  • Experience in a public accounting firm tax department
  • Knowledge of APIs, ETL, and BOT/AI/RPA tools

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, comprehend, and document current state processes
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement through automation and reengineering
  • Gather and document stakeholder requirements
  • Prepare user stories and process diagrams for development
  • Understand the utilization of current tax tools and best practices
  • Collaborate with Project Managers or independently manage projects from inception to completion, depending on size and scope
  • Partner with Business Intelligence colleagues to create dashboards with KPIs and other critical data
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across all Marcum LLP practice groups
  • Monitor project success through metric tracking; prepare status reporting presentations
  • Provide initial training and product documentation for users
  • Learn and understand Marcum's tax processes and technology stack
  • Evaluate and provide insights on new technologies, vendors, and products while staying informed on industry trends

Travel Requirements:
  • Less than 10% travel
