About the Role

Marcum LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Transformation Business Analyst to join our Tax Transformation group within the internal Marcum IT department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and understand current state processes to identify opportunities for improvement via automation and process reengineering.
  • Gather and document stakeholder requirements to prepare user stories and process diagrams for development.
  • Work with Project Managers or self-manage projects beginning to end, depending on size/scope.
  • Partner with Business Intelligence colleagues to develop dashboards with KPIs and other key data.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders across each Marcum LLP practice group.
  • Track project success via metric tracking and prepare status reporting presentations.
  • Prepare and provide initial training and product documentation for users.
  • Learn and understand the Marcum tax processes and tech stack.
  • Evaluate and advise on new technologies, vendors, and products and stay updated with industry trends.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a tax role within a medium or large tax/accounting environment, with at least 2 years in a true IT business analysis or tax technology position.
  • Experience documenting process workflows, use cases, and user stories.
  • Advanced knowledge of tax applications and tax workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into application and functional requirements.
  • Exceptional professional-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), products such as Visio, and Adobe.
  • Advanced data extraction and transformation skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Innovative and transformative mindset.
  • Prior experience using and the capability to learn and evaluate tax software applications.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements
  • Active CPA designation, or willingness to reactivate certification.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm tax department.
  • Knowledge of APIs, ETL, BOT/AI/RPA tools.
Travel Requirements

Less than 10% travel.
