Summary
The Patient Care Technicians for the Pool Personnel will report to the Staffing Coordinator/Nursing On Duty Supervisor and will deliver exceptional nursing assistance to a diverse patient population across various age groups.

Your work assignments will be determined by the Hospital's current needs, and you will be expected to adapt to different units within the Hospital.

Duties

Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Execute all care assignments safely and promptly.
2. Engage actively in unit-level quality enhancement initiatives and participate in team meetings and assigned committees.
3. Maintain accurate documentation as per policy, including but not limited to Intake/Output, daily weights, vital signs, pain assessments, hourly rounding, and blood glucose monitoring with appropriate comments for notifications.

Emergency Response:
1. Utilize effective verbal communication and preventative strategies when managing aggressive, potentially disruptive, or confused patients.
2. Apply knowledge of physical, social, and emotional factors in patient care assistance.
3. Recognize and initiate life-saving measures promptly when necessary.

Patient Education and Activities:
1. Participate in group sessions to facilitate patient expression, enhance social skills, and boost self-esteem.
2. Reinforce patient and family education provided by the registered nurse, utilizing knowledge of human behavior and various degrees of impairment.
3. Assist the professional nurse in planning and executing educational or recreational activities for patients.

Assessment and Communication:
1. Identify patient care management challenges and communicate findings to the registered nurse.
2. Provide calming and supportive communication to patients and families.
3. Offer emotional support to patients and families during end-of-life care.

Interpersonal Skills:
1. Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and interdisciplinary team members.
2. Maintain professionalism during all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
3. Foster positive communication and socialization skills with patients.

Work Schedule:
Evening shifts from 1530 to midnight, including weekends and weekdays.
Telework: Not available.

Conditions of Employment:
You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position. All applicants may be subject to a urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

Qualifications:
Applicants pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled.

Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. Education or Training: One year above high school with courses related to the nursing assistant occupation. Completion of an intensive, specialized course of study may also meet experience requirements.

Physical Requirements:
Moderate lifting (15-35 pounds), light lifting (under 15 pounds), moderate carrying (15-35 pounds), light carrying (under 15 pounds), and the ability to perform various physical activities such as walking, standing, and fine manipulation.
