Job Summary

The Critical Care Technician is a vital member of the Intensive Care Department patient care team, working collaboratively with nursing staff to provide high-quality patient care. This role involves performing a variety of delegated tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, with a focus on maintaining a safe and organized patient environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing staff with patient care duties, including vital sign recordings, patient hygiene, and communication with patients and families.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as processing orders and notifications, and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and maintain a clean and organized patient environment.
  • Operate patient monitoring equipment, record vital signs, and perform special procedures as directed by the RN.
  • Maintain competency in performing procedures such as Foley catheter insertion and removal, venipuncture, and laboratory specimen collection.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospital patient care or an acute-care setting preferred.
  • BLScertification required.
  • Current in ONE of the following certifications required:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Patient Care Tech (PCT)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
