About the Position

The University of Minnesota seeks a talented professional to serve as an Assistant Director of Events and Engagement. This exciting opportunity is part of the Advancement Team at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE), responsible for designing, collaborating on, and executing events and programs that foster alumni engagement, drive annual and major giving, and strengthen donor stewardship. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event planning, marketing, and communication, with excellent interpersonal and project management skills.

About the Job Description

This role involves planning and implementing approximately 20-30 events per year, including receptions, reunions, luncheons, dinners, facility tours, hosted athletic events, lectures, meetings, webinars, and more. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Events and Director of Alumni Relations to develop and manage these events, ensuring they are aligned with the vision, philanthropic priorities, and campaign initiatives of CSE and the University. Additionally, this position entails building and maintaining relationships with alumni, donors, and volunteers to enrich their lives and advance the University's goals. The individual will also represent the University to stakeholders as an informed ambassador, fostering lifelong, trust-based relationships with alumni and friends.

About the Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized professional with a bachelor's degree from a four-year institution and minimum 4 years of experience in event planning, marketing, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, commitment to customer service, and ability to manage multiple projects under pressure are essential qualities for this role. Furthermore, the selected individual will be able to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. A flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings, is required for this position.
