Job Summary

Concentra is seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Ancillary Testing and Tasks: Conduct various medical tests and procedures, including vaccinations, phlebotomy, and respiratory testing, as ordered by treating clinicians.
  • Conduct Rapid Screening Tests: Perform influenza, strep, mono, glucose, and other rapid screening tests as needed.
  • Prepare Patients for Physical Examinations: Take vital signs, perform required testing, and prepare patients for physical examinations.
  • Perform Routine Medical Procedures: Conduct routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinicians.
  • Triage and Disposition Patients: Assess patient needs and dispositions, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Assist Providers During Examinations and Treatment: Support healthcare providers during examinations and treatment, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Prepare for and Assist with Surgery Setup and Injury Care: Prepare for surgical procedures and assist with injury care as needed.
  • Apply Bandages, Dressings, and Splints: Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by treating clinicians.
  • Dispense Medications and Appliances: Dispense medications and appliances as ordered by treating clinicians, adhering to state regulations.
  • Perform DOT and Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing: Conduct drug and alcohol testing as required.
  • Maintain and Operate Medical Devices and Equipment: Ensure proper maintenance and operation of medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record-keeping.
  • Complete Quality Assurance Activities: Conduct quality assurance activities on equipment, medical devices, and testing processes.
  • Maintain Supplies, Clean Rooms, and Equipment: Ensure a clean and organized work environment, maintaining supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Notify Supervisor of Equipment Issues or Supply Needs: Inform supervisor of equipment malfunctions or supply needs.
  • Manage Patient Flow and Volume: Effectively manage patient flow and volume, keeping patients informed of expected wait times.
  • Perform Clerical Tasks: Complete clerical tasks associated with patient care and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy in documentation.
  • Cross-Train for Front Office Duties: Cross-train for front office duties, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, and check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Answer Telephone as Needed: Answer telephone calls as required.
  • Attend Center Staff Meetings: Attend center staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Facility: Ensure a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility.
Qualifications
  • Education/Credentials: High school graduate or GED equivalent, Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school, or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials.
  • Job-Related Experience: Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements, previous medical office experience preferred.
  • Job-Related Skills/Competencies: Concentra Core Competencies of Service Mentality, Attention to Detail, Sense of Urgency, Initiative, and Flexibility, ability to make decisions or solve problems, outstanding customer service skills, ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, willingness to participate in initial and ongoing training, effective communication and interaction with employers, patients, providers, and other employees, ability to maintain working relationships with all levels of employees, excellent customer service skills, computer skills, and ability to obtain all required certifications.
