POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the Bone and Joint Institute by providing essential clinical support. Responsibilities include:
  • Communicating clinical information effectively to patients and external partners.
  • Scheduling diagnostic tests and consultations.
  • Collecting clinical specimens and conducting assessments.
  • Performing clinical office procedures and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment or a current LPN license is acceptable.

Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Skills:
- Proficiency in using medical equipment such as glucometers, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and computers.

Physical Environment:
- Primarily office-based work.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, communicate effectively in English, and lift items weighing over 20 pounds.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. Accurately document patient medical histories and vital signs.
  2. Administer immunizations and injections as needed.
  3. Provide health-related counseling to patients.
  4. Manage inventory of clinical supplies and medications.
  5. Facilitate referrals to other medical services.
  6. Coordinate consultations with specialists.
  7. Handle patient inquiries and manage communications through various channels.
  8. Obtain prior authorizations for medications and tests.
  9. Assist physicians during medical and surgical procedures.
  10. Adhere to universal precautions and safety protocols.
  11. Maintain quality assurance in laboratory procedures.
  12. Implement proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
  13. Collaborate with pharmacies to ensure patient medication needs are met.
