Position Overview:

The Department of Pharmacodynamics at the University of Florida is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to collaborate closely with Dr. Brandon Warren. This role involves leading innovative studies focused on the influence of rac1 in neuronal groups during cocaine self-administration, utilizing transgenic models including rats and mice, as well as AAV technologies.

Key responsibilities encompass:

  • Designing and conducting behavioral research.
  • Executing surgical procedures on rodent subjects.
  • Applying molecular methodologies such as AAV vector administration, RNA sequencing, and single-cell transcriptomics.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting both behavioral and molecular datasets.
  • Maintaining detailed laboratory records and employing sophisticated data analysis strategies.
  • Overseeing laboratory operations, including equipment upkeep, inventory management, and adherence to safety and ethical standards.
  • Providing mentorship to graduate students and research assistants.
  • Preparing research findings for publication and presenting at academic conferences.
  • Assisting in grant proposal development.

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with advanced data analysis techniques, including machine learning.
A history of peer-reviewed publications.
Familiarity with rodent behavioral models.
Knowledge of molecular techniques such as AAV vectors and transgenic organisms.
Strong analytical and communication abilities.
