Position Overview:

The Department of Pharmacodynamics at the University of Florida is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to collaborate with Dr. Brandon Warren. This role involves leading innovative research focused on the influence of rac1 in neuronal networks during cocaine self-administration, utilizing transgenic models including rats and mice, as well as AAVs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement behavioral research studies.
  • Conduct rodent surgical procedures.
  • Utilize molecular methodologies such as AAV vector administration, RNA sequencing, and single-cell transcriptomics.
  • Gather, assess, and interpret both behavioral and molecular data.
  • Maintain comprehensive records in laboratory notebooks and apply sophisticated data analysis techniques.
  • Support laboratory operations, ensuring equipment upkeep, inventory management, and adherence to safety and ethical standards.
  • Guide graduate students and research assistants in their projects.
  • Prepare research findings for publication and present at academic conferences.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, or a related discipline.

  • Knowledge of molecular techniques, including AAV vectors and transgenic organisms.
