Job Summary

Emcor Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. As an Automation Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop building automation systems using project plans and specifications.
  • Attend project turnover meetings with the sales and project team to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Identify and resolve any gaps or ambiguities in project requirements and submit RFIs as necessary.
  • Select and procure controllers and devices for projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Develop written sequence of operations and write logic block programming to run DDC equipment, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Download controllers, test inputs/outputs, and verify program operation to ensure system functionality.
  • Collaborate with the graphics department to build graphical user interfaces for building automation systems.
  • Obtain field markups and revise submittals with any changes for owner records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate commissioning and testing procedures to ensure system functionality and performance.
  • Train facility owners/operators on building automation systems, ensuring they are equipped to operate and maintain the systems effectively.
  • Maintain backups of DDC systems and project documentation, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers, ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Engineering Manager/Project Manager with recommendations for resolution, ensuring timely and effective issue resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related engineering/technology field is required; a bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a combination of verifiable DDC-specific training and five or more years of experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical wiring and experience in engineering, design, or maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Experience in DDC or PLC design and programming is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer and building architecture networks, as well as third-party equipment integration over protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
