Job Summary

DeBra-Kuempel Inc., a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is seeking a skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. Key Responsibilities
  • Attend project turnover meetings with the sales and project team to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Design and develop building automation systems, creating project submittals using project plans and specifications.
  • Identify and address any gaps or ambiguity in the project, submitting RFIs as required.
  • Select and order controllers and devices for projects, ensuring timely delivery and installation.
  • Develop written sequence of operations and write logic block programming to run DDC equipment, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Download controllers, test inputs/outputs, and verify program operation to ensure system functionality.
  • Collaborate with the graphics department to build graphical user interfaces, enhancing system usability.
  • Obtain field markups and revise submittals with any changes for owner records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate commissioning and testing procedures, ensuring system readiness for operation.
  • Train facility owners/operators on system operation and maintenance, ensuring smooth system handover.
  • Maintain backups of DDC systems and project documentation, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers, fostering trust and loyalty.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Engineering Manager/Project Manager, recommending resolution strategies.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a related engineering/technology field, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a combination of verifiable DDC-specific training and five or more years of experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation, with a strong understanding of low-voltage electrical wiring.
  • Experience in engineering, design, or maintenance of HVAC systems, with a strong understanding of commercial electrical, HVAC, and control theory.
  • DDC or PLC design experience preferred, with DDC or PLC programming experience also preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
  • Familiarity with computer and building architecture networks, with experience in third-party equipment integration over protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.
  • Programming experience is required, with graphical block programming experience a plus.
