Job Summary

Columbia University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of On-Campus Programs, College Access and Inclusion to join our team. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in shaping the future of our college access programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive college access programs that align with the University's strategic goals.
  • Lead a team of College Access Advisors in the design, implementation, and refinement of high-quality programming, including Saturday Academy, Summer Academy, Junior Mentor Program, College Tours, Admissions Visits, and SAT Prep.
  • Provide direct student counseling that strengthens the college readiness, access, and success of DDC students and their families.
  • Supervise two full-time counselors, mentors, instructors, and student workers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement roadmaps that include clear milestones, work streams, and owners.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to programs and practices to improve workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with all practices related to the university's Protection of Minors policy as well as DDC's child safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience with college counseling/advising, and youth program development required.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate persuasive arguments in writing and orally to motivate and influence people.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and productively contribute to a coherent organization culture as well as to a leadership team focused on deepening programmatic impact.
  • Consistently strong track-record of reliably creating effective and accurate deliverables/work products in timely fashion to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed collaborative skills, as evidenced by the ability to work as part of a team with a strong initiative to drive forward project goals that are data-informed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in education or social work preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NYC public schools and youth development landscape, especially in the area of after-school and expanded learning opportunities for college access and persistence preferred.
  • Experience with academic planning, college counseling, teaching and tutoring of middle school, high school youth, and re-entry students preferred.
  • Spanish fluency (written and oral) preferred.
