Graduate Assistant for Accessibility Services

Overview:
The Graduate Assistant for Accessibility Services will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of the Center for Accessibility Resources & Disability Services. This part-time role is essential in supporting the department's mission to provide inclusive educational experiences for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with current staff to meet departmental needs, including administrative tasks such as documentation management and student file organization.

2. Conduct research on various topics related to accommodations for students with disabilities.

3. Assist in maintaining and updating the department's website and social media platforms as required.

4. Support the recruitment and assignment of student note-takers for paid services.

5. Share responsibilities for scheduling and coordinating exams as necessary.

6. Create written materials, including letters and promotional content for the department.

7. Provide proctoring assistance during peak periods, particularly during final examinations.

8. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in disability services and higher education. Candidates should meet the following criteria:
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program;
  • Previous experience in an educational setting, preferably in higher education;
  • Experience working with disability services or similar support services;
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills;
  • Proficiency in using social media and various communication tools;
  • Research experience and comfort with conducting research;
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to accept feedback and direction effectively.
Compensation:
Hourly rate of $20.00.

The salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on several factors, including departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, and education.
