About the Role

Bowdoin College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Director of Events and Summer Programs to join our team. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing major academic year events, including Commencement, Family Weekend, Convocation, and Honors Day. You will also work closely with faculty to plan academic symposia, campus-wide lectures, and concerts.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute major academic year events, including Commencement, Family Weekend, Convocation, and Honors Day
  • Work closely with faculty to plan academic symposia, campus-wide lectures, and concerts
  • Coordinate revenue-generating programs, including sports camps, single-day meetings, multi-day conferences, memorials, weddings, receptions, and dinners by community organizations and professional associations
  • Manage event budgets, plan logistics, and coordinate with vendors and staff
  • Supervise summer student staff and coordinate summer programs and events
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of event planning experience, including budgeting, planning, and staffing events
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Thoroughness in planning and execution to ensure no detail is overlooked
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
