Job Summary

Columbia University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of On-Campus Programs, College Access and Success to join our team. This is a key leadership role that will oversee the development, implementation, and refinement of high-quality college access programs for first-generation college-bound youth from low-income communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of College Access Advisors in designing, implementing, and monitoring college access programming, including Saturday Academy, Summer Academy, Junior Mentor Program, College Tours, Admissions Visits, and SAT Prep.
  • Provide direct student counseling to strengthen college readiness, access, and success of DDC students and their families.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of In-School Programs, Associate Director of Academic Enrichment, and Associate Director of Healthy Minds & Bodies to build a comprehensive college access program.
  • Develop and implement protocols for college access counseling/advising of the Center's college-bound youths.
  • Organize and oversee the staffing, logistics, and operations of all college access programming.
  • Manage the daily supervision of the On-Campus team to ensure the production and delivery of high-quality programming and individual advising.
  • Cultivate partnerships with campus-based and external organizations to expand learning opportunities and college & career exposure of DDC students.
  • Analyze program data to inform program development and enhancements.
  • Prepare and deliver program presentations and reports.
  • Maintain a student caseload for college counseling and advisement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience with college counseling/advising, and youth program development required.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate persuasive arguments in writing and orally to motivate and influence people.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and productively contribute to a coherent organization culture as well as to a leadership team focused on deepening programmatic impact.
  • Consistently strong track-record of reliably creating effective and accurate deliverables/work products in timely fashion to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed collaborative skills, as evidenced by the ability to work as part of a team with a strong initiative to drive forward project goals that are data-informed.
  • A passionate commitment to expanding opportunities, particularly college access, and persistence, for first-generation college-bound students from low-income communities, as well as students of color.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in education or social work preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NYC public schools and youth development landscape, especially in the area of after-school and expanded learning opportunities for college access and persistence preferred.
  • Experience with academic planning, college counseling, teaching, and tutoring of middle school, high school youth, and re-entry students preferred.
  • Spanish fluency (written and oral) preferred.
