Job Title: Utilities Field Supervisor

Join the City of Seaside, CA team as a Utilities Field Supervisor and take on a challenging role that requires strong leadership and technical skills. As a key member of the Maintenance and Utilities Division, you will be responsible for supervising a team of maintenance staff, ensuring the efficient operation of the city's water and sewer systems, and providing technical assistance to the Maintenance and Utilities Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and train maintenance staff in the installation, maintenance, and repair of city infrastructure, including water and sewer systems.
  • Plan, organize, and assign work to ensure efficient operation of maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Maintenance and Utilities Superintendent and other staff members.
Requirements:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, and five (5) years of skilled maintenance program experience in assigned area, two (2) of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Possession of a Class B drivers license with proper endorsements or obtain within twelve months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Grade II Water Distribution certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Grade I Water Treatment certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Cross Connection Control Specialist certificate or obtain within twelve months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Grade I Sewer certificate or obtain within twelve months of hire.
Working Conditions:

The Utilities Field Supervisor will work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. The position will also require working in and around city streets, storm drains, sanitary systems, and related facilities. The employee must possess mobility to work in confined spaces, around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate varied hand and power tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various city and meeting sites.
