Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the Senior Utilities Engineer (Supervisor) is responsible for planning, assigning, coordinating, and directing the work and activities of a small group of engineers and other professional staff in development and enforcement of the Commission's safety regulations for electric generation, distribution, and transmission facilities, distributed energy resources, and communication infrastructure contained in General Orders (GO) 167-B, Public Utilities (PU) Code, and other applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the work of a team of engineers and other professional staff.
  • Conduct technical investigations of complex issues involving electric generation facilities and energy storage systems.
  • Develop and enforce safety regulations for electric generation, distribution, and transmission facilities, distributed energy resources, and communication infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Requirements
  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL) and Professional Engineer License.
  • Ability to conduct technical investigations and develop safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in utilities regulation and enforcement.
  • Knowledge of Commission's General Orders and Public Utilities Code related to electric generating facilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
