About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and restock as needed.
  • Collaborate with the circulating RN to ensure accurate sponge, instrument, and needle counts.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transportation, and provide support to the surgical team as needed.
  • Perform equipment checks and assist with the maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with clerical work, including record keeping and data collection.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, completion of a Surgical Technology program, or completion of a Registered Nurse program.
  • Two years of previous scrub experience or completion of a summer surgical tech extern program.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull heavy loaded carts.
  • Visual, hearing, and oral acuity, as well as manual dexterity and technical ability.
Working Environment

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting and maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
