Primary Purpose:
The Lead Shelter Operations Coordinator (LSOC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the activities of the designated agency shelter. This includes ensuring adherence to program guidelines, safeguarding the well-being of residents, and maintaining the cleanliness and security of the facility. The LSOC will provide direct support to residents and collaborate effectively with fellow coordinators, case managers, and management to promote a Housing First approach and achieve successful program outcomes. This position is essential, meaning that the responsibilities are vital for the agency's operations, even during irregular circumstances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise resident activities to ensure the safety of all individuals within the facility.
- Offer continuous support and guidance to residents.
- Provide ongoing mentorship to Site Coordinators.
- Communicate any operational, policy, or staffing needs to the Shelter Operations Lead and Director of Operations.
- In the absence of the Shelter Operations Lead, assume responsibility for essential duties, including reporting needs and assisting Site Coordinators.
- Participate in all Lead Shelter Operations Coordinator meetings.
- Engage in mandatory Site Coordinator meetings.
- Collaborate with the Shelter Operations Lead in the recruitment process, including interviewing and training new Site Coordinators.
- Educate and model shelter processes.
- Ensure proper training and tracking of new and existing Site Coordinators across all shifts.
- Contribute to performance evaluations for Site Coordinators.
- Maintain an up-to-date scheduling platform for staff and per-diem workers.
- Conduct bi-monthly inspections of the assigned shelter and document any discrepancies.
- Address any complaints from residents or staff to the Shelter Operations Lead.
- Oversee the organization of operational paperwork within shelter documentation.
- Provide and coordinate emergency coverage as necessary.
- Complete intake documentation for clients entering the shelter outside regular hours.
- Maintain communication regarding incidents in line with agency policies.
- Perform regular facility checks as required.
- Assist residents with daily living activities.
- Enforce shelter and staff policies.
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs.
- Document and manage the distribution of donations and resources.
- Report any suspected child abuse to the appropriate authorities.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned to ensure effective operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with community resources and systems.
- Strong judgment and self-direction.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
- Experience in homelessness services preferred.
- Awareness of women's issues, including domestic violence and sexual abuse.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Adopt a solutions-oriented approach to challenges.
- Provide support and encouragement to peers and staff.
- Adapt to change and embrace additional responsibilities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding clients' and employees' personal information.

- The physical requirements of this role include the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands for various tasks, reach, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
