About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Healthcare Operations Coordinator to join our team at Kootenai Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating activities related to scheduling patients and procedures, referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance paperwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all Kootenai Health confidentiality and HIPAA standards
  • Function as the communication center for the unit/clinic regarding all patient care, patient location, and patient activities, and provide information and direction as needed
  • Enter orders, procedures, labs, and multiple tests regarding the care of patients while in the outpatient areas
  • Maintain patient demographics and insurance information in appropriate scheduling systems
  • Communicate basic financial policies pertaining to insurance coverage, collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay payments
  • Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required and process charges
  • Generate reports, handle multiple projects, and prepare and monitor invoices and expense reports per leadership
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working in a medical office preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, confidentiality, HIPAA, and electronic health record systems preferred
