Residential Support Specialist

As a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in fostering a nurturing home environment that empowers individuals to forge connections and cultivate meaningful relationships within their community. Key Responsibilities- Assist individuals in discovering and nurturing their interests and hobbies, while facilitating community relationships that align with their preferences.
- Empower individuals to advocate for themselves, make informed decisions, and enhance their independence within their homes and communities.
- Support individuals with personal care tasks, including but not limited to toileting, bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Guide individuals in completing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and managing finances.
- Utilize health-related protective equipment as prescribed to ensure safety and well-being.
- Contribute to the development and execution of Individual Service Plans (ISPs), including behavioral and medication treatment plans.
- Adhere to Medication Administration Program (MAP) policies, ensuring compliance with training, administration, security, and documentation requirements.
- Implement Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) practices to foster a supportive environment that reflects the preferences and goals of the individuals served.
- Employ various communication tools tailored to individual needs, ensuring effective interaction in their preferred language.
- Facilitate access to community resources, including transportation, to enable individuals to participate in programs, appointments, and social activities.

QualificationsTo excel in this position, candidates should possess the following:
- Understanding of theories and practices related to supporting individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to conduct and interpret assessments and medical treatments.
- Safe driving skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Preferred qualifications include a Certified Nursing Assistant certification, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are mandatory, along with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
- For those using personal vehicles for transportation, proof of appropriate automobile insurance coverage is required.
Common physical requirements for this role may include:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver individuals as needed, with lifting requirements varying based on the specific needs of those served.
- Capability to reach, bend, stand, sit, and walk as necessary.
- Repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis and computer work.
- Ability to work effectively in a moderate to occasionally loud environment.
