Position Overview
QinetiQ U.S. is seeking a junior Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Analyst to oversee an integrated marketing communications and public affairs portfolio for a federal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Key responsibilities include developing multimedia initiatives and campaigns in collaboration with program managers and technical experts; offering daily communications and public affairs support; and enhancing the team's marketing communications and external relations capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver integrated marketing communications and public affairs assistance across various activities, from crafting strategic communication plans and developing websites to managing events and digital strategies.
- Support agency leadership in daily public affairs and integrated marketing communications initiatives.
- Establish and nurture collaborative and strategic relationships with colleagues, including QinetiQ team members, subject matter experts, and agency leaders.
- Quickly interpret and convey complex mission-related information into clear, concise, and accurate language.
- Identify, propose, and implement integrated marketing communications strategies and campaigns.
- Adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment while focusing on both short- and long-term strategic objectives.
- Recognize opportunities to introduce QinetiQ solutions that address current and anticipated client challenges.
Required Qualifications
To be considered, candidates should possess:
- 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree or higher.
- Experience in federal management consulting, homeland security, strategic communications, marketing, visual communications, or a related field.
- Proficiency in marketing and communications, including drafting speeches and talking points for high-level government officials.
- Skills in graphic design, MS SharePoint, audio/visual production, photography, and/or print/web design.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment supporting federal leaders.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to critically assess and identify areas for improvement.
- A self-motivated team player capable of working collaboratively and independently based on client needs.
- A commitment to building respectful and positive relationships based on mutual trust with clients, teammates, and stakeholders.
- The ability to maintain a security clearance from the U.S. Government and handle sensitive subject matter with discretion and sound judgment.
- A writing sample will be required from candidates.
