Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Specialist to join our team at the Department of Health and Human Services. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in shaping the public's perception of our agency's policies and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and analyze information prepared for release to news media to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Provide technical advice and direction to a team of public affairs specialists in day-to-day media relations work.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote our agency's programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement media relations plans.
  • Stay up-to-date on current events and trends in the field of public affairs and media relations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in public affairs and media relations, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.

Additional requirements include:

  • At least one year of experience in a public affairs or media relations role.
  • Strong knowledge of government policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
