Role Overview:

This position is situated within the Lunar Transportation division, focusing on the development of the Blue Moon lander series. Our mission is to establish sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Your expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the future of space exploration, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to safety in spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the entire lifecycle of turbomachinery, from requirements gathering to analysis, design, development, assembly, verification, and lunar operations.
  • Design and develop innovative motor-driven liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen pumps.
  • Conduct 2D and 3D finite element analyses to forecast thermal conditions of turbomachinery components, aiding in structural and clearance evaluations.
  • Utilize your foundational knowledge in heat transfer to align thermal models with test data, providing insights for design enhancements and future testing initiatives.
  • Collaborate directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Over 6 years of experience in turbomachinery thermal and fluid analysis, particularly using ANSYS.
  • Strong grasp of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamic principles.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Ability to foster trust and maintain professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive culture.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to collaborate with external stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems and electric motor-driven pumps.
  • Familiarity with all phases of turbomachinery lifecycle in flight vehicle applications.
  • Experience in engineering analysis related to Non-Conformance (NC) issues in turbomachinery components.
Compensation:
