About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Separation Systems Manager to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our New Glenn program, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and production of the full scope of separation systems for our launch vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the technical direction for the separation systems, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians to design, develop, and test the separation systems, including pneumatic systems, actuation systems, and ordnance-based separation systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the separation systems with other launch vehicle components.
  • Manage the procurement and supplier selection process for all separation systems procured commodities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and test reports.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks to ensure the successful delivery of the separation systems.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability in the separation systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, including mentoring and training.
  • Collaborate with the program management team to ensure the successful delivery of the New Glenn program.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the design, development, and production of mechanical systems for launch vehicles or other complex aerospace systems.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with design drawing and GD&T practices, CREO and Windchill design lifecycle tools, and structural and fluid/thermal analysis tools and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with launch vehicle development, production, and operations.
  • Strong business management skills, with experience in managing large, geographically dispersed programs with large subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with design drawing and GD&T practices, CREO and Windchill design lifecycle tools, and structural and fluid/thermal analysis tools and practices.
