JOB SUMMARY

This position involves performing custodial duties across grounds, buildings, and guest service areas, including waste management and recycling. You will be responsible for maintaining superior cleanliness standards in visitor areas. Custodians frequently interact with guests, communicate effectively, and provide excellent customer service while carrying out outdoor tasks.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers exceptional service to guests by fostering a welcoming environment, greeting every visitor, and upholding high customer service standards.
  • Ensures that restrooms, indoor spaces, and meeting areas are clean and inviting for all guests.
  • Maintains tidy park pathways, sidewalks, and roadways, ensuring they are free of litter.
  • Efficiently cleans designated areas, including windows, toilets, sinks, and floors.
  • Completes maintenance and custodial tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Operates equipment effectively to achieve desired cleanliness results.
  • Provides information about the zoo and its animals to guests, managing crowds and activities to enhance safety and visitor experiences.
  • Keeps work and storage areas organized and presentable.
  • Adheres to safety, animal care, and guest service protocols diligently.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires at least 1 year of experience in customer or guest service.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both customers and team members.
  • Must be flexible, dependable, and self-driven.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be capable of operating necessary equipment for the role.
  • Ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Physical capability to perform various tasks and lift up to 30lbs.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings is necessary.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Aptitude for working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibits a welcoming demeanor towards guests, staff, and volunteers.

  • May work in challenging weather conditions.
